2008 MTSU Majorette Auditions are Saturday, April 26th, 8:30
a.m.
Order of
Events
8:30 a.m.
Registration and warm up
9:00 a.m.
– Learn group routine
9:30 a.m.
– Free time for rehearsing
10:00 a.m.
– Group routine performance/tricks and individual auditions begin
- Attendance required by new applicants and
returning MTSU Majorette

No specific
number of majorettes will be chosen
Auditions
are closed to the public
The following information will be helpful to those
students who plan to audition for a majorette position with the MTSU
“Band of Blue.”
Requirements are as follows:
1.
Dance/Twirl: Music
selection of your choice (2-3 minutes maximum)
Criteria for evaluation includes:
- Coordination
of routine music
- Simultaneous
footwork and twirling
- Variety
of dance steps
- Showmanship
- Multiple
Batons
2.
Additional areas of consideration
- Appearance
- Attitude
- Posture
- Presentation
- Basic
Marching
3. Attire
- Shorts/shirts/leotards
or any clothing that allows unrestricted movement
(Please do not wear
loose/oversized clothing)
- Your
high school or competition uniform will work well
4. Two
letters of recommendations (no required of current “Band of Blue”
Students)
- From
your band director
- Or
from your principal or teacher of your choice
- Or
from your baton teacher
5. You will be taught a short group routine to be performed late
in the day
- You
will be evaluated on your ability to learn quickly and efficiently
6. You will be expected to demonstrate basic marching fundamental
skills
Try-outs will be held in the Wright Music Building on the
MTSU Campus
Applicants will be
notified of the results by mail
If you are interested in being a majorette captain or Featured
twirler, you must schedule a time for an interview/try-out.
Interviews will be scheduled through Niki (406-1617 or MissNiki20@yahoo.com).
Notification of your intention to audition by returning the
audition application form will be appreciated.
