Directions to Craigmont High School from Microtel:  Go north on Germantown Parkway to Highway 64 (Stage Road) and turn left.  Travel 5.8 miles and turn left onto Covington Pike.  Go approximately ½ mile and school will be on your left.  Park in the back of the school for entrance.

Motel information: Microtel, 2423 N. Germantown Parkway , Memphis , TN.   (901) 213-4141 – rate of $84.99 + tax for a queen double room.  Reserve your room by June 13, 2008 to receive this rate – rooms cannot be guaranteed after this date.  Mention confirmation “baton” when booking your room.  Motel is located off of exit 16 ( Germantown Parkway ) on I-40 – behind Costco. 

Contestants:

Twirlers must be between the ages of 5 and 20 years of age as of Friday, June 27. Must be enrolled in a weekly class and in good standing by attending regularly each month as a student and paying all charges owed on any TTI classes, twirl days, supplies, team practices  or any workshops.

Requirements for TTI Twirling Pageant:

Twirler may enter the TTI princess portion of the pageant (must be a new beginner or first year student only) or TTI Queen Competition (any student of TTI).  Princess competition consists of dress modeling, parade routine and dance-twirl routine.  TTI Queen must enter five events; Tiny Tot, Little Miss and Majorette Doll do dress modeling, interview, parade, twirl and strut routines.  Junior and Miss Tennessee of Baton Twirling do twirl, strut, dress modeling, interview and talent other than baton twirling.  TTI Princess will receive FREE weekly classes for the Fall Semester 2008 with TTI.  TTI Queens will receive FREE weekly classes for the Fall and Winter Semester with TTI. 

Requirements for TTI State Championships:  Students must be between the ages of 5 and 20 years of age as of Friday, June 27.  Students must be enrolled in weekly classes and in good standing by attending regularly each month as a student.  Outstanding First, Second and Third Year students must enter twirl, strut, dance-twirl and parade routines.  Outstanding First, Second and Third Year students will receive a trophy, banner and FREE weekly classes for the fall semester 2008 with Tennessee Twirlers, Inc.

Tennessee Grand Champions of Twirl, Two Baton, Three Baton, Dance-Twirl and Strut will receive a $250 savings bond, rotating trophy for one year, plus two FREE semesters of baton classes with the Tennessee Twirlers, Inc.

For TTI State Championships, student must enter four events and check events on the entry blank on page 2.  Students competing for Grand Champion must enter four events of their choosing.  Ages for state championships will be 5-9, 10-12, 13-14, 15 and over.

AWARDS FOR COMPETTION:  The top five in each division of TTI Princess 5-9, TTI Junior Princess 10 and up, Tiny Miss Tennessee Twirlers, Little Miss Twirl of Tennessee , Tennessee ’s Majorette Doll, Junior Miss Tennessee of Baton Twirling and Miss Tennessee of Baton Twirling.  There must be 3 competitors in each of the TTI princess and junior princess divisions, or those divisions will be combined.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

            5:30 p.m. Registration

            6:00 p.m.  Talent presentation by Junior Miss and Miss Tennessee contestants

            7:00 p.m.  Dress Modeling TTI Princess and TTI Junior Princess

            7:15 p.m.   Dress Modeling for All queen contestants.

As soon as modeling events are completed, dress for interview.  Interview will be held on Friday night instead of Saturday morning. 

Saturday, June 28, Craigmont High School , Memphis , Tennessee

            8:30 a.m.  Orientation for all contestants

            8:40 a.m. Parade, basic, box, “beginner dance twirl”, strut, two baton, three baton,                        twirl solo, and advanced dance-twirl. 

Lunch will be provided by the TTI Booster Club with proceeds to help defray expenses for TTI teams and parade corps traveling to Daytona Beach , Florida in July 2008.

            3:00 P.M.   All Princess contestants and queen contestants, State and Queen Competitors plus TTI Queens and escorts will rehearse in the auditorium.  This practice is closed to the parents and friends. Practice is casual so twirlers may have curlers in their hair. Contestants will be released at 4:30 p.m.

            6:30 P.M.   Report to auditorium for evening show in pageant T-shirt given to     each contestant, white long pants, white tennis shoes, white socks ( no colored     belt with pants only white belt if needed).  Bring dress worn on Friday night in modeling for second portion of show.  Contestants will change during   intermission into dresses.

            9:30 P.M.   Reception for all contestants and families in the School Foyer.

            EACH CONTESTANT will be given a pageant number to be worn at all times during this event.  Each contestant will receive a T-shirt to be worn with the long white pants for interview and during the opening production       number.  White long pants (not stretch or thin fabric) will be worn with shirt        tucked into pants.  Please specify correct size of shirt (not baggy or big sizes)            to be worn with pants on entry form.  TALENT FOR JR. AND MISS            TENNESSEE 2:55 in length ( 1:30 minimum).  Talent may be anything     deemed entertaining except baton twirling or twirling of any object (no      ribbon batons).  Rules for correct dress style and length will be given at     workshop April 19th.  Please consult these rules....no sparkle fabric, no   sequins, no rhinestones or glitter on fabric.  Church dresses are to be worn.  Short dresses for ages 5 through 11, long dresses for ages 12 and up.  Anyone            wearing “pageant style” dresses will be penalized 5 points.  Hair should be        down for younger twirlers and not worn up in French buns or twists.  Older          twirlers 12 and up may wear older hair styles.  PHOTOGRAPHS will be        taken by TTI photographer, Connie Irby.  This includes limo rides, inside      gym and auditorium at school. Video or regular camera will not be allowed          into the building as we will have a videographer f or this event.            Reminder....no smoking in the school!!!     (Over for entry blank)...

FREE ADMISSION TO SPECTATORS AND TWIRLERS AT THIS EVENT!             Absolutely NO SMOKING allowed in this facility.  FOOD WILL BE SERVED BY THE TTI BOOSTER CLUB WITH PROCEEDS TO SEND TTI TEAMS TO Daytona Beach , Florida in July 2008..  No outside food or beverage allowed in the building!!!

NO FLASH PHOTOS ALLOWED AT THIS CONTEST!!  Twirlers will be disqualified if any member of their family or friend are taking photos during any portion of this competiton.   We will have a photographer, Connie Irby, and video person for this competition.
